GAIN partners with UOG for SNIP program

The temporary clinic is part of the Spay Neuter Island Pets (SNIP) Program, a joint venture by GAIN and HSI to provide affordable and safe spay/neuter services to Guam.

The Guam Animals in Need (GAIN) and Humane Society International (HSI) recently partnered with the University of Guam (UOG) for a week-long, low-cost spay and

neuter clinic.

The temporary clinic was part of the Spay Neuter Island Pets (SNIP) Program, a joint venture by

GAIN and HSI to provide affordable and safe spay/neuter services to Guam.

“Spaying and neutering your pet reduces aggression, roaming, and extends a pet’s life by reducing rates of

cancer,” said SNIP Program Coordinator Samantha Mullen.

She continued, “The only way to solve our stray animal problem is by spaying and neutering both owned and unowned animals, so we encourage everyone to participate and spread the word.”

Mullen said that by partnering with the University of Guam, they are excited to provide an educational

opportunity for students interested in exploring the veterinary and medical fields

A career exploration session was also held on-campus, during which the visiting veterinarians provided students with tips on how they can also pursue careers in

veterinary science and animal welfare.
